In what will undoubtedly go down as the darkest hour in the mall’s history, 38-year-old Tao Hsiao committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of a Xuzhou – apparently out of pure frustration.
His jump was said to have been triggered by an argument with his girlfriend over the duration of the shopping trip he’s been forced to endure.
“He told her she already had enough shoes, more shoes that she could wear in a lifetime and it was pointless buying any more,’ a bystander told the press.
“She started shouting at him accusing him of being a skinflint and of spoiling Christmas, it was a really heated argument.”
The man is then said to have dropped his shopping bags and leapt over the upper-floor’s barrier, plunging seven stories to his death in front of hundreds of horrified onlookers. He died instantly and authorities are investigating the tragic incident.
